Health Effect of Ultra-High Voltage Construction
The ultra-high voltage (UHV) project has supplied substantial clean electricity to east-central China, mitigating environmental pollution from conventional energy sources. Using CHNS data, this paper analyzes the environmental benefits of UHV and its impact on residents’ health. Results demonstrate that the UHV project significantly decreases respiratory diseases among residents in receiving areas, particularly urban residents, with pronounced effects among children, elderly, and less-educated individuals. This health effect remains significant following various robustness tests. These findings offer valuable insights for assessing UHV project implementation impacts.
