Designing of OWC Systems with mmWave and Optical Modulations for Different Optical Bands

This research proposes a new paradigm for optical wireless communication (OWC) systems by combining mmWave and optical modulations. The OWC system is designed to exploit multiple optical bands and ranges, such as O-band: 1260-1360 nm, E-band: 1360-1460 nm, S-band: 14601530 nm, C-band: 1530-1565 nm, and L-band: 1565-1625 nm and thus, enabling data speed enhancement, boosting spectral efficiency, and increasing the overall reliability of optical communication. The results show p nuromising performance of the proposed system, particularly at 60 GHz, where it can support high data rates and perform stable data transmission over long distances. The proposed system is reliable and efficient with low error rates and provides adequate spectrum utilization under practical conditions. FM yields the highest Q-factor and minimum BER as $8.11 \mathrm{e}^{-21}$ and $1.53 \mathrm{e}^{-17}$ with the O and E-band signal accordingly, which is suitable for long distance. AM has a Q-factor of 16.09 and a low BER of 1.25e-58, making it suitable for short-distance signal transmission. Moreover, this study opens a potential avenue for further applications in the field of 5G networks, internet of things (IoT), and smart cities.
