A Probe Antenna with an Integrated Band-Pass Filter Via Shielded SIW

The proposed antenna, operating at 2.48 GHz, utilizes Semi-Substrate IntegratedWaveguide (S-SIW) technology to achieve compact and high-performance filtering. The design integrates inductive virtual grounding, defective ground structures (DGS), and vias arranged around the microstrip line, creating a quasi-waveguide environment for effective electromagnetic confinement and noise shielding. The microstrip line between the vias introduces reactive elements, enhancing frequency selectivity and spurious mode suppression. Simulations validate the antenna’s performance, demonstrating efficient mode stabilization and minimal interference. The measurement system confirms excellent impedance matching and low return loss. This novel approach provides a scalable and efficient solution for next-generation high-frequency communication systems.

Abstract

The proposed antenna, operating at 2.48 GHz, utilizes Semi-Substrate IntegratedWaveguide (S-SIW) technology to achieve compact and high-performance filtering. The design integrates inductive virtual grounding, defective ground structures (DGS), and vias arranged around the microstrip line, creating a quasi-waveguide environment for effective electromagnetic confinement and noise shielding. The microstrip line between the vias introduces reactive elements, enhancing frequency selectivity and spurious mode suppression. Simulations validate the antenna’s performance, demonstrating efficient mode stabilization and minimal interference. The measurement system confirms excellent impedance matching and low return loss. This novel approach provides a scalable and efficient solution for next-generation high-frequency communication systems.
