A comparative study of cost-benefit ratio by using weed control practices in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) for improving the farmer’s income

The study was conducted during 2020 and 2021 at the Agricultural Research Farm of Shri Durga Ji Post Graduate College, Azamgarh (U.P.), to assess the economic impact of various weed management practices in wheat cultivation. The experiment was designed with nine treatments and four replications following a randomized block design. The predominant weeds in the wheat field included Anagallis arvensis, Chenopodium album, Phalaris minor, Parthenium hysterophorus, and Cyperus rotundus. Among the treatments, the postemergence application of carfentrazone-ethyl at 0.025 kg a.i./ha proved most effective in suppressing weed growth, reducing cultivation costs, and maximizing both gross and net returns, resulting in a higher benefit cost (B:C) ratio in order to promote the sustainability.
