Addressing Rural Elderly Care Through IoT and AI-Driven Aging-in-Place Initiatives

With the rapid advancement of science and technology, the maturation of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) has brought transformative convenience to work, education, healthcare, and daily life. Confronted by the global challenge of population aging, exploring efficient and high-quality elderly care models through technological innovation has become a critical societal issue demanding urgent attention. This article proposes integrating smart community frameworks into rural areas, specifically tailored to the characteristics and needs of aging populations in these regions. The proposed aging-in-place model employs IoT devices to monitor real-time health status and living conditions of the elderly, while AI algorithms analyze collected data to deliver personalized services including health management, disease prevention, and lifestyle enrichment. By synergizing technological innovation with humanistic care, this approach aims to enhance both the quality of life and emotional well-being of rural seniors, ultimately providing a viable solution to address aging challenges in under-resourced communities.
