Synthesis and fluorescence properties of Eu3+- and Eu2+-Co-doped Ba6Al4B14O33 white phosphor

A two-step solid-state reaction method is used to synthesize Ba 6 Al 4 B[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]:Eu[Formula: see text] and Ba 6 Al 4 B[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]:Eu[Formula: see text], Eu[Formula: see text]. The initial step in the process entails the preparation of BaAl 2 O 4 :Eu[Formula: see text] as an intermediary compound with the goal of reducing Eu[Formula: see text] to Eu[Formula: see text], and the second step includes generating the target product through a reaction involving this intermediate. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirms the successful preparation of pure-phase Ba 6 Al 4 B[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra show that the synthesized product Ba 6 Al 4 B[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]:Eu[Formula: see text] emitted cyan fluorescence in the range of 494-503 nm under excitation at 351 nm. The asymmetric emission peak suggests that the cyan fluorescence is generated by the joint interaction of two different Ba[Formula: see text] crystal fields in the lattice. Ba 6 Al 4 B[Formula: see text]O[Formula: see text]:Eu[Formula: see text], Eu[Formula: see text] phosphor is prepared by adding Eu[Formula: see text] in the second step, offering a viable approach for generating white light sources.
