Impact of phosphorus levels and PSB strains on nodule parameters, yield and economics of soybean (Glycine max L.)

A field experiment was conducted to determine the Nodule parameters, Yield and Economics of soybean (Glycine max (L.)) as influenced by Phosphorus levels and PSB strains, at the Agricultural Research Station, Adilabad, Kharif 2024. The experiment consisted of four levels of Phosphorus (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1) and three levels of PSB strains (uninoculated, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas flourescens), with a total number of twelve treatments, three replications were laid out in an FRBD (Factorial randomized block design). The nodule parameters, yield attributes and yield were significantly varied with phosphorus levels and PSB strains. Phosphorus level of 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 recorded higher nodule number plant-1, nodule fresh weight and nodule dry weight at all stages of crop growth and yield parameters viz., pods plant-1, seeds pod-1, seed yield (kg ha-1), straw yield (kg ha-1), gross returns (Rs. ha-1), net returns (Rs. ha-1) and B:C ratio and was found at par with 40 kg P2O5 ha-1. Among PSB strains, Bacillus subtilis recorded higher nodule number plant-1, nodule fresh weight and nodule dry weight, yield parameters at all stages of crop growth and gross returns (Rs. ha-1), net returns (Rs. ha-1) and B:C ratio were on par with Pseudomonas flourescens and lower results in uninoculated. Phosphorus levels and PSB strains caused no significant variation in seed index (g) and harvest index (%).

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to determine the Nodule parameters, Yield and Economics of soybean (Glycine max (L.)) as influenced by Phosphorus levels and PSB strains, at the Agricultural Research Station, Adilabad, Kharif 2024. The nodule parameters, yield attributes and yield were significantly varied with phosphorus levels and PSB strains.
