The relationship between predictors and the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among police personnel in West Coast, Sabah: an exploratory investigation

This study examined the relationship between various risk factors (demographic factors, physical factors, work-life balance, psychosocial factors, workstyle, and mental health issues) and the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among police officers in West Coast Sabah (n = 165). The study used questionnaires to gather data on demographic factors, physical factors, work-life balance, the work organisation assessment questionnaire (WOAQ), workstyle, general well-being, and musculoskeletal disorders. Data were analysed using SPSS version 22.0. The results indicated that the work organisation assessment had a negative correlation with the prevalence of MSDs. In contrast, physical factors, work-life balance, workstyle, and mental health showed positive correlations with the prevalence of MSDs. Future research should further investigate the predictors associated with MSDs and develop strategies to minimise these disorders in the workplace.
