Optimal Energy Management for Interconnected Data Centers Considering Demand Response

The rapidly developing interconnected data center (IDC) industry results in high energy consumption. Considering its low energy utilization rate characteristics, sorting it out by combining it with an integrated energy system (IES) is desirable. This paper proposes an integrated energy management scheme to optimize the operation cost for an IDC cluster. Firstly, the spatio-temporal load shifting and demand response (DR) capabilities of multiple data centers (DCs) are modeled, and the operational model of the internal units of the IES is defined. Secondly, a balance of cooling, heating, gas, and electricity demand for the DCs is established, and a cost-minimization dispatch model is constructed, targeting the minimization of storage costs, energy purchase costs, scheduling costs, and DR incentives. Finally, the comparative analysis of three scenarios demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed integrated energy management model.
