Single Phase Fault Tolerance Multilevel Inverter

Abstract In high-and medium-voltage systems, multilevel inverters (MLIs) have lately attracted a lot of interest utilized in a number of industrial uses. Low harmonic, high-power output at medium voltages, modularity—high. Among the various advantages of MLIs are several content ones. MLI dependability is really crucial. Various types of flaws arising in the MLIs influence the reliability. The most sensitive part of MLI circuits is switching devices, which also greatly causes all kinds of issues. Under such a fault, appropriate corrective action has to be done. This work offers the entire evaluation of several fault tolerant (FT) solutions for MLIs under switch fault conditions. Furthermore addressed are certain single-phase FT MLI topologies, their advantages and disadvantages. Thus, in this study a new single-phase 9 level fault-tolerant architecture multilevel inverter is developed. The proposed 9-level fault-tolerant architecture guarantees constant operation by allowing single switch and many switch failures to be tolerated. Experimental results allow one to verify fault tolerance. One used to control the output voltage has been sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). Presenting the experimental data guarantees for both healthy and defective conditions the efficiency of the proposed 9-level fault-tolerant MLI structure. The proposed 9-level fault tolerant architecture suggests a lesser device count than the existing topologies based on the results.
