Small Signal Modelling and Analysis of a Modified Switched-Inductor Converter using Voltage Multiplier Cell

Abstract High-gain DC-DC converters are increasingly employed across a multitude of power conversion applications. This manuscript introduces an enhanced Switched-Inductor Converter (SIC) integrated with a Voltage Multiplier Cell (VMC) to augment both voltage gain and stability. A thorough small-signal modelling of the proposed converter is executed to scrutinize its dynamic characteristics. Mathematical derivations are systematically conducted for each operational mode, establishing the foundation for small-signal analysis. The proposed converter is systematically compared with existing topologies to assess its performance enhancements. MATLAB/Simulink simulations are utilized to corroborate the theoretical analysis and illustrate the efficacy of the converter.
