Synthesis of phenanthridines via a palladium-catalyzed annulation of 2-iodobenzimines with 2-halobenzoic acids

A palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative annulation reaction of 2-iodobenzimines with 2-halobenzoic acids for the synthesis of phenanthridine scaffolds has been developed. Mechanistic investigations elucidate the cooperative role of Cs 2 CO 3 and KOAc.
