The triglyceride-glucose index and mortality risk in critically ill pediatric patients undergoing heart surgery
• TyG index is a novel independent predictor of in-hospital mortality in critically ill pediatric heart surgery patients. • TyG ≥9.4 elevates mortality risk (HR=6.39), serving as critical stratification threshold. • Findings were consistent across a broader cohort of pediatric patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
