Low‐Profile MIMO Patch Antenna Combined With Solar Cell for 5G Green Communication
ABSTRACT A multiple‐input–multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna capable of integrating with solar cells has been proposed for green communication applications. The isolation between the MIMO antenna ports exceeds 20 dB. By designing a direct current (DC) pathway within the isolation band between the MIMO antenna ports, we have reduced interference between the radio frequency (RF) and DC pathways while simplifying the overall design complexity. This approach achieves RF and DC isolation with no additional filtering circuits. A prototype of a solar cell antenna was fabricated, and its radiation performance and optical energy collection capability were tested to validate the feasibility of the design. Additionally, tests were conducted on a copper antenna without an attached solar cell; comparisons with the solar cell‐integrated antenna demonstrated that the presence of the solar cell does not adversely affect the performance of the original MIMO antenna. This innovative design effectively combines MIMO antennas with solar cells, presenting promising prospects for applications in green wireless communication.
