Designing a Web-Based Goods Stock Information System Using Laravel and MySQL

Effective stock management plays a vital role in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting data-driven decisions, especially within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Despite this, many SMEs continue to rely on manual inventory systems, which are susceptible to input errors, reporting delays, and poor data traceability. This study aims to design and implement a web-based goods stock information system using the Laravel framework and MySQL database to offer a reliable and adaptive solution. The system development followed the Waterfall methodology, comprising stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. Validation was carried out through Black Box Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure both functional correctness and user satisfaction. The implemented system features include item data management, inbound and outbound transaction tracking, historical data access, automated report generation, and minimum stock level notifications. Black Box testing confirmed that all system functions operated according to specifications, while UAT results indicated positive user responses regarding ease of use, interface clarity, and task support. Compared to existing systems, this study contributes novelty through the comprehensive integration of essential inventory modules combined with dual testing approaches for both functionality and user acceptance. In conclusion, the developed system successfully improves inventory accuracy, reduces manual entry errors, and accelerates reporting processes, thereby offering an effective digital solution to enhance warehouse operations and inventory transparency in SMEs.
