Bridging the ICT Skills Gap in Bangladesh: An Undergraduate Perspective on Industry Expectations and University Preparation
This paper investigates the critical issue of the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) skill gap in Bangladesh, which is impeding the productivity and competitiveness of the sector. The study assesses the discrepancy between industry expectations and the skills obtained through educational programs. By analyzing a comprehensive survey, this paper determined that outdated curricula, limited industry exposure, insufficient practical training, and a lack of career guidance are responsible for creating the ICT skill gap. Several steps can be taken to fix the skill gap, as follows: regular curriculum updates, industry-driven projects, increased internships, and faculty industry training.
