SÍNDROME DE POTTER: UMA REVISÃO DA LITERATURA
Potter syndrome is a rare and lethal congenital malformation resulting from severe oligohydramnios associated, in most cases, with bilateral renal agenesis. It is characterized by typical facial anomalies, musculoskeletal deformities, and severe pulmonary hypoplasia, which often endanger neonatal survival. Given advances in imaging diagnostics and the complexity of clinical outcomes, early recognition of the syndrome has enabled the adoption of individualized and ethically sound approaches. This study aims to critically review the Brazilian literature published between 2015 and 2025 on the pathophysiological, diagnostic, and prognostic aspects of Potter syndrome, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary work and the bioethical implications involved. The analysis highlights that, despite current therapeutic limitations, genetic counseling and humanized care are essential for the clinical and psychological management of affected families.
