In the Cross-Modal Communication Perspective Ultra-Stable 2D Ion-Doped Transition Metal Dichalcogenides Cathodes for High-Performance Energy Storage
This study investigates the effect of cerium (Ce) doping on the electrochemical performance of nickeliron layered double hydroxides (NiFe-LDH) for supercapacitors. Ce was doped at different concentrations (0–0.5 mmol), and its impact on crystal structure, morphology, and capacitance was analyzed. XRD confirmed successful Ce incorporation at 0.3 mmol, altering the lattice structure. SEM showed a transformation from feather-like particles to hierarchical flower-like nanosheets, increasing surface area and electrolyte access. The 0.3 mmol Ce-doped sample exhibited the best performance, achieving a specific capacitance of 524 C · g -1 at 1 A · g -1 , significantly higher than the 42 C · g -1 of the undoped sample. These results demonstrate that moderate Ce doping can greatly enhance the electrochemical properties of NiFe-LDH.
