Technology Integration Models and Instructional Design Frameworks to Facilitate the Development of Teacher Training Programmes

In the digital age, equipping teachers with the skills and knowledge to integrate technology into their teaching is essential for improving student learning outcomes. This study conducts a systematic review of three technology integration models: 5WH1, TPACK, and WSTP and two instructional design frameworks: ADDIE and 4C-ID to explore their relevance in developing effective teacher training programmes. A total of 26 research articles published between 2000-2024 were reviewed, focusing on key themes namely major components and theoretical foundations, insights provided to design teacher training programmes and strengths and limitations of the models. The findings emphasize the need for an integrated approach that combines technology integration models with instructional design frameworks to enhance professional development programmes. This integrated approach ensures that teacher training is both systematic and adaptable, addressing the challenges of technology adoption while promoting effective instructional practices. By leveraging these models, training programmes can be designed to better equip teachers with the necessary competencies for meaningful technology integration in education.
