Three-dimensional modeling of the pelvic floor by the finite element method: current status and prospects
The current understanding of the problem of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and urinary incontinence is based on clinical and instrumental studies, most of which were published 20-30 years ago. In its current form, its further study faces methodological and ethical obstacles. Due to the widespread development of noninvasive diagnostics and the introduction of computer technologies into the medical industry, finite element machine analysis (FEM) has become possible, allowing for the creation of simulation models of organs and tissues. In recent years this method has found application in the study of pathological conditions of the pelvic floor. This publication is a review of literature data on the study of the etiopathogenesis of POP and urinary incontinence, as well as their surgical correction using FEM.
