Neurobiological, Psychological, and Environmental Synergies in Shaping Adolescent Creativity and Resilience
Adolescence is a pivotal stage characterized by intense neural and emotional transformation. Creativity and resilience act as dual pillars supporting psychological health during this period. This mixed-methods study explores how brain maturation, psychological dispositions, and surrounding environments interact to shape adolescents’ capacity to innovate and withstand adversity. Using fMRI data, validated psychometric tools (N=150), and qualitative inputs from educators (n=30) and clinicians (n=20), we examine two hypotheses: (1) elevated creative engagement correlates with higher resilience, and (2) prefrontal cortex (PFC) activity mediates this link. Results indicate significant PFC mediation (β=.68, p<.001), with contextual support playing a moderating role. These findings have implications for educational practices that foster resilience through creativity-informed strategies.
