High photoelectric conversion efficiency solar photovoltaic cells: from bendable to wearable
With the rise of wearable devices, wearable solar cells, as a necessary energy source, attract more attention. This article combines several research results in cutting-edge fields, giving three ways to realize wearable solar cells from bendable solar cells: nanowire solar cells, wire-shaped solar cells and fabric solar cells. They have their own advantages and disadvantages, nanowire solar cells have high efficiency, flexibility and transparency, but they have contact resistance and high cost. Wire-shaped solar cells can be woven into textiles, have the features of flexibility and stretchability, but they face durability and stability issues. Fabric solar cells are breathable, flexible and washable, but their photoelectric conversion efficiency is lower than conventional cells. To achieve commercialization, the three face some common challenges, including improving conversion efficiency, reducing costs and improving stability under various environmental conditions. With advances in materials and manufacturing technologies, these wearable solar cells are expected to have wider applications in the future.
