Comprehensive analysis of pure electric vehicle energy consumption and performance using AVL cruise: a dynamic simulation approach
This study focuses on the dynamic performance and energy consumption optimization of pure electric vehicles (EVs) through advanced simulation techniques. By leveraging AVL Cruise and MATLAB, a comprehensive analysis was conducted to evaluate the impact of key factors such as vehicle mass, aerodynamic drag, battery configuration, and transmission ratio on energy efficiency. The EV model under investigation demonstrated impressive performance metrics, including a maximum acceleration of 12 m/s², a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 11.68 seconds. These results highlight the potential of EVs to deliver high-performance driving experiences while maintaining energy efficiency. The research also explored the relationship between energy consumption and various design parameters. For instance, reducing vehicle mass by 100 kg was found to decrease energy consumption by approximately 0.211kwh, emphasizing the importance of lightweight materials and optimized structural design. Similarly, aerodynamic improvements, such as reducing the drag coefficient, significantly lowered energy consumption, underscoring the need for streamlined vehicle designs. Furthermore, the study revealed that the number of series-connected batteries directly impacts energy consumption, while parallel-connected batteries have minimal influence. This insight provides valuable guidance for optimizing battery configurations to enhance energy efficiency. The findings from this study offer practical implications for the design and development of more efficient EVs. By optimizing factors such as mass, aerodynamics, and battery arrangement, manufacturers can improve the energy efficiency of EVs, extending their range and reducing operational costs. This research not only contributes to the advancement of EV technology but also supports the broader goals of sustainable transportation and energy conservation.
