Analysis of Jet Engine Performance in Multisine Tests
Abstract Multisine method is widely used to identify the control object model. For gas turbine engines, this method has also been applied in multiple research topics. The multisine method enables the engine to exhibit responses over the entire operating frequency domain, thereby helping to accurately create engine’s dynamic model. However, there are still concerns about the impact of fueling the engine in the form of multiple sine pulses at rotational speed regions other than the design point, which can affect the performance and life cycle of the engine. This paper analyzes the impact of the multisine test on the performance and life cycle of a turbojet engine. In this paper, fuel is supplied in the form of multisine to the engine at regions of 55%, 65%, 75%, 85% of the maximum rotational speed. Parameters such as fuel flowrate, rotational speed, temperature, pressure, vibration at different locations on the engine are continuously monitored and fed into the real-time performance analysis system. From there, engine performance charts such as compressor map, turbine map, combustion efficiency chart, and surge detection analysis are calculated and the results are displayed in real time. The analysis results of this paper can be used as a reference for performing the multisine test for other engines.
