Future Prediction of Phase Transition of Single Crystal Nickel Based Superalloys for Gas Turbine Blades via Discrete Cosine Transform and Maximum Entropy Method

Abstract A novel prediction method using the combination of the two-dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform and the Maximum Entropy method has recently appeared to be able to be utilized to estimate the dynamic phase transition of the single crystal Nickel-based superalloy for gas turbine blades during the creep deformation. This method uses interpolation between two SEM (scanning electron microscope) metallographic charts. However, prediction with extrapolation of dynamic metallographic changes via the above method has not been reported yet. Therefore, in this paper, it is reported that the future prediction with extrapolation of phase transition of single crystal Nickel based superalloys would be possible by using the Discrete Cosine Transform and the Maximum Entropy method. It has been turned out that the extrapolated prediction of phase transition during the creep deformation can be performed via only the two-dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform and its obtained extrapolated image is similar to the SEM chart. In addition, it has been turned out that the interpolated prediction between the starting SEM chart and the extrapolated image can be performed via the Maximum Entropy method incorporating the two-dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform and its obtained interpolated image is similar to the SEM chart.

Abstract

In addition, it has been turned out that the interpolated prediction between the starting SEM chart and the extrapolated image can be performed via the Maximum Entropy method incorporating the two-dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform and its obtained interpolated image is similar to the SEM chart.
