Advances in Spinel Nanomaterials for C─C Bond Formation via Cross‐Coupling Reactions: Palladium and Beyond

Abstract In the field of synthetic organic chemistry, the use of nanocatalysis is increasingly popular due to its ability to make synthetic protocols more environmentally friendly. This trend has led to a high demand for nanocatalytic techniques. Nanocomposites, particularly nanospinels, have gained the attention of researchers due to their unique properties of both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis‐like performance, including catalytic activity, product selectivity, ease of separation, and reusability. The spinel nanocomposites, due to their larger surface area, provide good support for organic moieties undergoing chemical transformations, leading to the minimization of reaction conditions and enhancement of yields for desired products. Furthermore, the spinel nanocomposites exhibit excellent heterogeneity, making them easily separable and recyclable. The purpose of this review is to provide insight into the previously reported nanospinels and their application in important carbon–carbon cross‐coupling reactions.
