Intersectionality in Career Aspirations: The Role of College Experiences and Gender Among Black and Latinx Students Pursuing Health Professions
This study investigates gender disparities in college experiences and health career aspirations among Black and Latinx college students. Utilizing data from the 2015 Freshman Survey and the 2019 College Senior Survey, this study explores how college experiences shape healthcare career aspirations for both male and female college students within this population. This study employed logistic regression analysis to identify college experiences that affect healthcare career aspirations for male and female students in this group. The study contextualizes its findings within the existing literature, highlighting the pressing need to enhance the representation of practitioners from diverse backgrounds to better address health disparities and social determinants affecting Black and Latinx communities.
