Women's participation in technology companies in Brazil: an analysis of gender inequality

Sectors historically occupied by men are now beginning to see a female presence. This phenomenon is also occurring in an area essential for large-scale development in our country: the IT sector. In Brazil, according to the press office of the University of Passos Fundos, women represent only 20% of professionals in the field, which appears to be a small number given so many opportunities seemingly in sight. The literature shows that this trend has occurred primarily in more remote cities, since opportunities are more distant. Addressing these issues, this paper seeks to review the literature to understand how women's employment and representation in the information technology sector compare to male professionals, considering that this is a field of knowledge pioneered by the participation of women in its creation.
