Phase Noise Reduction in Millimeter-Wave Radar for Cross-Medium Communication
An emerging cross-medium communication method uses millimeter-wave radar to detect micro-scale water surface vibrations induced by underwater acoustic sources, enabling direct information transmission from underwater to the air without relays. While promising, this approach is limited by phase noise in the radar, which degrades signal quality and reduces communication reliability. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel phase processing method that reduces phase noise variance and eliminates nonlinear effects. This improves the SNR, decreases the BER, and thus improves cross-medium communication performance. We conduct experiments to validate our method and demonstrate its advantages by comparing it with traditional methods. These developments provide a foundation for more reliable and precise cross-medium communication systems, with significant potential for future applications in challenging environments.
