TrustNet - A Blockchain-Based Voting System for Integrity

Blockchain technology, therefore, has now emerged as the strong alternative solution to traditional practices, ensuring advanced security features and greater clarity, as the decentralized electronic system for electronic voting. Thereby, often, contemporary designs of e-voting systems require blockchain architectures that utilize encryption through RSA and can take several seconds of time with critical security issues. We propose a new method that applies hash functions under the symmetric-key cryptographic structure to overcome those obstacles. Our method is designed to improve the encryption process, with the highest security requirement. In addition, our methodology also includes an all-round end-toend verification system to ensure the integrity of blockchain data during the voting process. Our aim is to enhance the security, transparency, and efficiency of e-voting systems, thereby promoting the field of electronic voting technology, by integrating these improvements. Our approach is based on the evoting system, which was implemented in Python using Tkinter and MySQL, as described in more detail in this literature review paper. Voting process, user registration, EPIC number validation, and user authentication are part of the system. After the verification of EPIC numbers for authenticity, users are permitted to register with unique usernames and passwords. Users are permitted to cast votes for a wide range of parties upon login, although the system disallows multiple votes by a single user. Users are marked as having voted in order to prevent double voting, and vote counts for each party are updated based on this. Multiple attempts by voters at login, through error handling will be applied in the systems, integrating our proposed scheme for a symmetric key-based cryptography means that our suggested symmetric scheme will enhance and make systems more secure with better efficiencies.
