Investigating the Impact of Drive Cycles on Hybrid Electric Vehicle Performance using MATLAB
Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) play an important role in dropping the release of greenhouse gases and enhancing fuel efficiency. This study uses MATLAB simulations to evaluate the impact of various driving cycles on (HEV) performance. The designed model includes major components such as a vehicle body, gearbox, PMDC motor, H-bridge inverter, longitudinal controller, and lithium-ion battery. This study analyses vehicle speed, torque, battery SOC, and mileage over several drive cycles. The results show that the choice of drive cycle has a substantial impact on energy efficiency, with the HWFET cycle providing the best mileage and the LA92 cycle providing more effective battery consumption. These findings provide essential information for automakers and policymakers in optimizing HEV technology for real-world applications, ultimately contributing to the worldwide effort.
