MPPT-Driven Wind Energy System Under Dynamic Wind Conditions
Growing scarcity of fossil fuels like coal, diesel, have become a significant global concern. These non-renewable energy sources, which have traditionally been the backbone of electricity generation, are not only finite but also contribute heavily to environmental issues like greenhouse gas emissions and climate variability and disruption. Wind energy, in particular is a vital and efficient solution to address this growing energy crisis. It is abundant, clean, and renewable, offering a sustainable pathway to meet the rising global energy demands while minimizing environmental impact. Advanced technologies have been developed to optimize wind turbine performance under stable and dynamic wind speed conditions. This paper concentrates on the performance and comparison of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques, specifically classical Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm and a fuzzy logic-based control technique. The use of MATLAB/Simulink simulation models with dynamic wind speeds has been performed and results indicate a betterment DC output voltage and power with fuzzy logic approach. The results demonstrate the betterment of efficiency and reliability of wind energy systems.
