The Decoupled Two Closely Distributed Omnidirectional PIFAs Using a Meander Line
This paper presents a neutralization line (NL) for decoupling two closely placed planar inverted- <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$F$</tex> antennas (PIFAs). This neutralization line has meander structures and is etched between two back-to-back positioned PIFAs with an edge-to-edge separation of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.05 \lambda$</tex>. The simulation shows that both antenna elements have a 10 dB impedance bandwidth of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$19.58 \%(2.26 \text{GHz}-2.73 \text{GHz})$</tex>. In addition, port isolation between them is significantly improved, increasing from 9.7 dB to 17.6 dB. Moreover, the decoupled PIFAs show undistorted and stable omnidirectional radiation patterns within the passband.
