Micropatch Meandered Dual-Polarized Slot-Fed Dielectric Resonator Antenna (MMD-PSF-DRA)
This work presents the development of a Micropatch Meandered Dual-Polarized Slot-Fed Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) Array tailored for broadband radar applications. The proposed design emphasizes optimized bandwidth, polarization diversity, and enhanced radiation efficiency. A meandered slot-fed mechanism is employed to achieve robust dual polarization, thereby improving signal integrity and minimizing polarization-dependent interference. Rogers Duroid 5880, with a low dielectric constant of 2.2, is selected as the substrate material to ensure low dielectric loss and support a compact, lightweight structure. The antenna achieves a return loss (S11) ≤ −10 dB and a VSWR ≤ 2 across the operating bandwidth, while maintaining a beamwidth of 60°–90° and cross-polarization levels ≤ −20 dB for high polarization purity. The design targets a broadband response with a gain of 5–8 dBi and high efficiency, making it wellsuited for advanced radar imaging, remote sensing, and emerging wireless communication systems. Through a comprehensive design strategy involving material selection, slot geometry optimization, and precise array configuration, the antenna achieves superior performance characteristics aligned with the demands of modern broadband radar systems.
