An Intelligent FPGA-Based Vehicle Accident Reporting System for Real-Time Emergency Response

Road accidents remain a leading cause of fatalities worldwide, with delayed emergency responses often contributing to the loss of lives. This paper presents an intelligent FPGA-based vehicle accident reporting system designed to reduce response time and minimize fatalities. The system integrates a device connected to the vehicle’s airbags, which triggers accident alerts in real- time. Upon airbag deployment, the system automatically sends crucial information, including the accident location, severity, and estimated number of occupants, to nearby police stations and hospitals. This ensures a swift emergency response to the accident scene. The proposed system also features Google Cloud integration, where all accident data is stored for future analysis and surveys, enabling better understanding and prevention strategies. By leveraging FPGA technology, the system delivers high- performance, low-latency processing to ensure immediate accident detection and notification. Our research includes a detailed analysis of accident trends and the correlation between delayed responses and fatalities. The system’s efficacy in reducing accident-related deaths is demonstrated through simulations and real-world scenarios. With its ability to provide timely alerts and store data for continuous improvement, this system aims to significantly reduce the number of fatalities caused by road accidents.
