Exploring Data Protection in Mist Computing: Risks and Resilient Solutions
Mist computing is a light extension of fog computing, so the data can be processed in real-time at the ultra-edge devices, such as sensors and micro-controllers. Though this paradigm increases the efficiency and reduces latency, its highly distributed nature poses big security concerns. This paper discusses the vulnerabilities with respect to mist computing focusing on data security. This study proposes a strong encryption framework utilizing RSA for secure key exchange, AES for fast and lightweight data encryption, and hashing (SHA-256) for integrity verification. This approach ensures confidentiality, authenticity, and scalability making mist computing highly robust against cyber threats. A prototype of the encryption-decryption model illustrates how secured communication and protection of data may be efficiently enforced in mist environments.
