A Compact E-Shaped Broadband Circularly Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna Array
An E-Shaped broadband circularly polarized (CP) magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna array is proposed in the paper. The antenna element employs a two-layer structure, featuring two E-shaped dipoles along with two transverse short stubs positioned on the upper substrate surface as the radiating elements. The lower substrate has an H-shaped coupling slot etched on its top layer and a microstrip feed structure etched on its bottom layer. The microstrip feed structure excites the electric dipole on the upper substrate through the H-shaped coupling slot. Additionally, two metallic vias extend from the lower substrate to the upper substrate, functioning together with the coupling slot as magnetic dipoles. Finally, the proposed circularly polarized antenna obtains an impedance bandwidth of 62 % and an axial ratio bandwidth of 49.69 %. On this basis, to obtain higher gain, a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1 \times 2$</tex> antenna array is designed using a full-corporate feeding network. Through HFSS simulation, the array reveals an impedance bandwidth of 71 % and an axial ratio bandwidth of 43.61 %. The peak gain is 10.50 dBic. The simulation results show that the proposed array has excellent circular polarization performance.
