Design of Wideband Millimeter-Wave Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna Element and Array for 5G/6G Mobile Communications Applications

In this paper, a wideband high-gain antenna element and array based on magneto-electric dipole structure is proposed, which can be put into the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$5 \mathrm{G} / 6 \mathrm{G}$</tex> millimeter-wave band mobile communication applications. The designed antenna element consists of a coaxial probe and an I-shaped coupling slot as a feeding structure, which is further combined as a prototype to form an antenna array with a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4 \times 4$</tex> closely spaced structure. The measurement results demonstrate that the antenna array exhibits a center frequency of 28.6 GHz and an impedance bandwidth of 34.3 %, encompassing the frequency range from 22.2 to 32 GHz. In the range from 22.95 to 31 GHz, the antenna array exhibits a gain of greater than 15 dB, with a peak gain of up to 19.7 dB. The proposed design offers a promising avenue for potential applications in millimeter-wave wireless systems.
