Demand-Aware Resource Allocation in Multibeam Satellite Systems
With the increasing demand for global communication, satellite communication systems play a crucial role in achieving seamless 6 G global coverage. Due to the scarcity of resources in satellite systems, efficiently allocating limited resources, particularly power and frequency resources, poses a challenge in satellite systems. In this paper, we investigate the demand-aware resource allocation problem in multi-beam GEO satellite systems with the objective of minimizing unmet system capacity (USC). The optimization problem formulated is a challenging mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. We propose a two-stage decoupling algorithm based on genetic algorithm (GA) to solve this problem. Numerical results indicate that the proposed scheme allocates resource more efficiently and outperforms the benchmark schemes in enhancing the demand matching rate.
