Research on Inter-Provincial AGC Control Strategy for Pumped Storage Units Considering Renewable Energy Fluctuations
With the rapid development of new-type power systems, the proportion of renewable energy in power systems continues to increase. The inherent randomness and intermittency of renewable energy impose higher demands on grid frequency stability. This paper aims to investigate the coordinated control strategy of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) and interprovincial Area Control Error (ACE) regulation for pumped storage units under the conditions of modern power systems. First, a simplified model is constructed by reducing the complexity based on typical grid frameworks. Then, an inter-provincial frequency regulation control strategy is proposed according to energy distribution characteristics. By analyzing the frequency regulation capabilities of new energy, conventional energy, pumped storage and other power sources, we adopt a multi-level command priority allocation and coordination strategy, with pumped storage as the main frequency regulation method for frequency control. Finally, taking actual parameters of pumped storage units as an example, the regulation effectiveness under fluctuations of wind and solar power is analyzed, and the validity of the proposed strategy is verified through simulation results.
