Material Supplier Selection Using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process: A Case Study of Rattan Basket Manufacturing Business in Chiang Rai Province

The selection of material suppliers is a significant decision in manufacturing, impacting product quality, production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. This study applies the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) to identify the most suitable artificial rattan supplier for rattan basket manufacturers in Thoeng district, Chiang Rai province, Thailand. Data was collected from five rattan basket manufacturers through questionnaires and interviews. The Fuzzy AHP method was employed to evaluate and prioritize suppliers based on multiple criteria, providing a systematic approach to address uncertainty and vagueness in decision-making. The results demonstrate that the Fuzzy AHP method effectively helps manufacturers select suppliers who align with their specific needs, ultimately reducing costs and improving profitability. This study highlights the potential of the Fuzzy AHP method as a valuable decision-making tool in supplier selection for the rattan basket industry.
