Real-Time Smart Vehicle Alert System for Blind Spot Roads

This study aims to introduce a cost-effective sensor-based vehicle detection system designed to enhance safety in blind spot roads like hazardous mountainous areas with sharp turns, narrow driveways, and limited visibility, which often lead to accidents. The system uses infrared (IR) sensors to detect vehicles near roads and turns. A microcontroller processes the sensor data and triggers visual and audible alerts: a red LED and buzzer for potential danger when a vehicle is too close, and a green LED to signal when it's safe to pass. The modular design allows for flexible deployment across various road types, making it suitable for high-traffic mountainous regions. Tested under simulated mountain road conditions, the system performed reliably, successfully detecting vehicles and issuing warnings without any malfunctions. This work details the system's development, performance, and its adaptability to challenging terrains.
