DPSS:A Dynamic Packet Scheduler based on MPQUIC in Satellite Network

Satellite networks play a crucial role in global communication coverage, disaster emergency communication, and navigation and positioning services, providing capabilities that ground-based communications cannot cover. However, these networks commonly exhibit heterogeneous delay and high packet loss, leading to poor performance of traditional TCP/IP protocols. The QUIC protocol, a novel transport protocol deployed in user space, offers advantages over the traditional TCP protocol, including multiplexing, support for connection migration, and more flexible congestion control. Multipath Quick UDP Internet Connection (MPQUIC) is a promising protocol that combines QUIC's advantages with bandwidth aggregation and smooth subpath failure management, beneficial for satellite networks. In this paper, We introduce a dynamic packets scheduling algorithm (DPSS) based on the MPQUIC protocol, considering round-trip time (RTT), congestion window (CWND), and packet loss rate. Our experiments demonstrate DPSS's effectiveness in mitigating head-of-line blocking and buffer overflow in satellite networks.
