A Modified 60 GHZ Rectangular Patch Antenna with Slots and Parasitic Structures for V-Band Usage

This study proposes a modified rectangular patch antenna achieving efficient performance at 60GHz thus providing applications in V-band. It has been designed and simulated using Ansys HFSS software. It achieves a return loss of -42.96dB at 60.1GHz and -27.15dB at 60GHz which is an essential parameter for assessing performance, particularly in high-frequency applications like 60 GHz systems, where effective impedance matching is essential for optimal radiation. The antenna is built on a efficient substrate which is with a thickness of 0.254 mm. In this design, the radiating element is a conductive patch placed on the dielectric substrate. A conductive microstrip feedline is directly integrated with the patch to directly deliver the signal to the radiating element. It has compact dimensions of 6.2 x7.4 x0.254 mm3 which is suitable for high frequency applications where smaller and precise geometries help achieve optimal performance.
