Smart Precision Farming: A Water Efficient Irrigation System

Smart Precision Farming uses IoT-based monitoring and control to optimize irrigation and improve crop productivity. Traditional farming suffers from uneven water distribution, leading in excessive water use and inconsistent crop growth. it presents an IoT-based Smart irrigation System which integrate embedded technologies and cloud computing for real-time monitoring of soil moisture, temperature and humidity. SHT40 and soil moisture sensors are deployed across multiple field sections, each connected to an nRF52832 controller, which transmits data to a central ESP32 via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The ESP32 then sends the collected data to the ThingSpeak cloud for visualization and analysis. The system includes user-defined threshold values for temperature and soil moisture, triggering alerts when critical limits are exceeded. ThingSpeak and ThingView applications enable remote monitoring, allowing farmers to make informed watering decisions efficiently. Experimental results confirm accurate real-time monitoring, efficient water management, and rapid cloud data transmission (15s response time). Compared to traditional methods, the system enhances precision irrigation, reduces water wastage, and promotes agricultural sustainability.
