Experimental Verification of Polarization-Insensitive Hybrid Optical Fiber and THz Wireless Transmission at 300 GHz
In recent years, the photonics-assisted THz communication system has attracted a wide range of research interests due to its advantages of ultra bandwidth and large capacity, which are quite conducive to the future 6 G ultra-high-speed wireless transmission scenarios. However, this system usually suffers from the problem of polarization sensitivity, which significantly reduces its robustness and practicality. In this paper, we propose a polarization-insensitive photonics-assisted THz communication system based on the block-wise Alamouti coding scheme, which can achieve stable performance over extended periods. A 50-Gbps polarization-insensitive photonicsassisted THz wireless transmission over the hybrid <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$20-\text{km}$</tex> optical fiber and outdoor <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$200-\mathrm{m}$</tex> long-range THz wireless links at 300 GHz has been successfully demonstrated for the first time.
