Joint WFRFT Waveform Design and OSIC Signal Detection for Massive MIMO Systems
We consider the problem of waveform design and signal detection for massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. In order to improve the signal detection accuracy, we propose a joint weighted fractional Fourier transform (WFRFT) waveform design and ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) signal detection method, where a WFRFT-type waveform is considered in both signal transmission and detection. Traditional WFRFT waveform is proved to outperform single carrier and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform when combined with minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) detector. However, severe performance degradation is illustrated when OSIC detector is utilized due to constellation split problem. To overcome this problem, we redesign the transmission scheme of WFRFT waveform, where signal detection and waveform reconstruction at receiver are jointly conducted. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves better bit error rate (BER) performance compared with existing methods.
