Energy Management Systems for Electric Vehicle Utilizing Solar Integration
Growing deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates the creation of sophisticated energy management systems to improve their integration with renewable energy systems, especially solar energy. The conventional systems struggle to effectively exploit solar energy to charge EVs and provide bidirectional energy exchange (Vehicle-to-Grid, V2G, and Grid-to-Vehicle, G2V). The key problem is inefficiency in energy conversion and handling in charging and discharging cycles, resulting in loss of energy and decreased performance of the battery. To combat this, we present a systematic energy management system consisting of solar energy harvesting, DCDC converter, and Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms.
