An Optimized Quantification Algorithm for Lossy Compression Based on P-Ldpc Codes

Efficient compression conserves resources and minimizes consumption, making lossy source coding a focal point due to its high compression efficiency. This paper investigates the quantization algorithm at the encoding end of protograph lowdensity parity-check (P-LDPC) codes-based lossy source coding systems and proposes a Layered Reinforced Belief Propagation (L-RBP) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to the RBP algorithm, the proposed L-RBP algorithm reduces the number of iterations required for convergence while improving the system's rate-distortion (RD) performance. The system's encoding efficiency increases to over <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{9 0 \%}$</tex>, achieving a performance gain of 0.13 dB to 0.41 dB.
