Basic Survey for Hydrographic Mapping of Urban Rivers

In recent years, urban areas have been facing severe traffic congestion and labor shortages. As a solution, the use of boat transport and autonomous vessels has attracted attention. However, determining the safe and the efficient shipping routes still relies on the experience of operators. This poses challenges, for inexperienced operators and autonomous vessels. In particular, urban rivers contain numerous bridges and shallow and narrow areas and are strongly influenced by tidal variations. Therefore, the development of the hydrographic map that account for temporal changes is essential. In this study, we collected data under two conditions - high tide and low tide - and investigated the effect of temporal variations on the production of the hydrographic map.
